This is the view of Manhattan from Roosevelt Island. Soon Roosevelt Islanders and visitors will be leaning on and looking over those weather-resistant seawall railings. And the railings will look this good for seasons to come because they’ve been finished with a high-performance powder and cured in a high-heat oven.
The newly powder-coated railings run nearly the full length of the Island’s 3.5 shoreline The $8.7 million railing replacement is part of robust five-year capital improvement plan undertaken by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC).
The railing project is expected to finish early in 2019.
